I've been at the beach since Sunday morning. Just got home today and have been wading through the 200+ emails that have accumulated since I last checked on Sunday. I was at a conference for Oregon financial aid folks. It's held annually at Salishan Lodge in Gleneden, OR. Gleneden also has an excellent surf spot. The surf there was working, but it's a pretty steep beach and doesn't work well for longboards--it's easy to snap a board there. I also checked the surf at Otter Rock, Nelscot and Roads End. Nothing doing. Since the surf wasn't working, I ended up riding the Lincoln City skateparks. Nice places, but I never really got my flow going. On my way out, one of the young rippers asked me something. He was a complete stoner and couldn't talk, so I had to ask him to repeat himself a few times. Ended up he just wanted a ride home and was asking if I was going south. I told him I could hook him up. As we were leaving, two more kids asked for rides, so I loaded them in too.

Today I drove home by way of Pacific City (and picked up two more hitchhikers who were on their way to the beach) and almost paddled out there. It was pretty big though and I just wasn't feelin' it. Definitely saw some guys dropping into double-o waves on the outside. I ended up driving home, throwing on a pair of shorts (it's been blue skies here and at the beach for a couple of days) and hitting the local skatepark. On my way home from PC, though, I passed my surfing buddy, Pete. He was on his way down to PC...he probably paddled out though. Hopefully we'll hook up soon and Pete can shame me into paddling out into the big stuff.
